Physics Engineering Bachelor Degree Study Program newly established in early 2009 based on the decision of the Directorate of Higher Education Department of National Education Republic of Indonesia Number 90/D/T/2009 dated on January 21, 2009.

Curriculum of Physics Engineering Bachelor Degree Study Program is designed with a total load 144 credits for the course duration 4 years / 8 semesters. For students who can keep the grade of semester not less than 3.00 at each end of the semester have been provided the study of planning through Curriculum Acceleration Scheme 3.5 years / 7 semesters.

This Study Program were born to meet the demands of industries requiring experts in the field of Physics Engineering, which has been newly filled with the three public universities and one private college that opened the Engineering Physics program of study, They are Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB), Institute of Technology November Surabaya (ITS), University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) and National University.

Physics Engineering is a very wide field. This field overlaps with fields such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Materials Engineering. One of the advantagesof Engineering Physics Study Program is the flexibility of graduates in work and curriculum focus on applied science areas that underpin the above techniques. For this reason expected to develop the fields toward a better and more needed.

Suppression of Physics Engineering Study Program of IT Telkom is in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Energy Engineering, photonics Engineering, Electromagnetic Applications Engineering, and Materials Engineering. But the emphasis on above cannot be separated from the focus of IT Telkom in the field of Information and Communication Technology. Emphasis is based on the fact that there are lots of jobs in the industrial sector which is one important factor to sustain the economy in Indonesia. In the perspective of the economy in the future, structure of the manufacturing and service industries will certainly provide a greater contribution to the economy of Indonesia. Industrial sector become stronger if supported by human resources as an innovator who has the skill and ability to absorb knowledge in science and engineering, and apply it in the industry.

Until now the number of graduates of Physics Engineering from the Universities in Indonesia still does not meet the needs of the industrial sector. Related profession competencies of Physics Engineering, such as system integrators engineer, instrument and control engineer, process engineer, health and safety engineer, energy engineer dominated by foreign labor. Competence Physics Engineering graduates are in great demand in the industry and flexible career as mastery on the ability of engineering graduates based on mathematics and physics, and able to work in other engineering fields such as industrial engineering, electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering, mechanical engineering, as well as in engineering other.

The results of a study visit to various similar Study Program and Tracer Study of some industrial that use the graduates, and Wonder ware Human Machine Interface Software, shows that the absorption of a graduate studies program of its in the industry is quite high. Some industries absorber graduates include Caltex, Schlumberger, Astra International, BATAN, LAPAN, PT Telkom, INKA, Pindad, Pertamina, Chevron Pacific Indonesia, and others. The average of graduate of Physics Engineering Study Program, particularly in the field of instrumentation and control engineering, maximum only 3 months after graduation was working / absorbed by the companies. This indicates that the user is a graduate of Physics Engineering program is very large.
