About the Program

Due to the increasing demands for human resources in the field of Information Technology, IT Telkom decided to have IT master program. This program has been establishedand has an acknowledgement from the National Education Department of General Directorate of Higher Education no. 424/D/T/2009 on March 27, 2009.

Vision

The program envisions one of the best and well known institutes in the field of Information Technology. It develops staff and researchers as well as innovative Infocom technology in business and industrial world. The IT master program has 3 orientations, i.e.Media Informatics, Software Engineering, and Data Mining.

Media Informatics is a program involving planning, implementing and analyzing distributed system (ubiquitous information), as well as computational system which integrates infrastructure and content knowledge.

Software Engineering is a program involving analyzing and estimating system  requirements, planning, and developing software including systematicprocess of representation, development, production, testing (verification and validation) and software maintenance set up from severalframeworks.

Data Mining is a program involving analysis, data pre-processing, and its application inauthenticproblems.

The outstanding learning process of this Master Program in Information Technology conducted by IT TELKOM is that the students have experiencesin doing researchbecause they are encouraged to apply researchconcepts in Infocomsince the first semester through project-based learning with intensivesupervision. In addition, the graduates will be able to write scientific report in English.

The program is conducted based on authentic research, i.e. the problems or cases discussed both in classes and thesis are taken from authentic experiences. Students who have been working may have case studies based on their experiences and problems.To enhance learning process and encourage the students to learn the subjects intensively, studio facilities are provided.

Graduate Competency

The graduates are expected to have core competencies, three specific competencies i.e. media informatics, software engineering, anddata mining, and other supporting competencies.

·         Core Competency

1.      To be able to analyse the system and problems concerning with various aspects of telecommunication.

2.      To be able to troubleshoot and make sophisticated solution to problems in the modern telecommunication industry.

3.      To be able to develop innovative technologies in Infocom by means of deep analysis of previous one.

4.      To understand and apply the profession’s ethics

·         Competency in Media Informatics

1.      To be able to evaluate various alternative plans and technology concerning with multimedia and web building

2.      To be able to develop multimedia and web-based distributed system for business and industry.

·         Competency on Software Engineering

1.      To be able to analyze and estimate system requirements

2.      To be able to develop software which coverssystematic representation, developing, producing, testing (verifying and validating)and evaluating as well as maintaining softwares using several frameworks.

·         Competency on Data Mining

1.      To be able to understand data mining as a part of an integrated process (including the useof CRISP-DM) to analyse and solve problems.

2.      To be able to use current technology and application on data mining.

·         Supporting Competency

1.      To be able to work both individuallyand in a teameitheras membersor leaders.

2.      To be able to handle a project and business in line withtheir expertise.

·         Other Competency

To be able to express opinions and ideasboth oral and written either in Indonesian or English.

Prospective Students

Prospective studentsneed to be graduatesfrom information technology or similar background (such as Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information System, Information Management),electrical engineering, or mathematics with adequate English ability, represented by minimum TOEFL score of 475 or IELTS score of 4.5

Available Program

The IT TELKOM master program of Information Technology covers 38 credits in three semesters. It has two programs available: Regular and Exclusive Program.

Regular program isheld in IT TELKOM classrooms during weekdays (Monday to Friday) for every course taken.

Exclusive program is held in classes (67%) as well as distance learning via video conference (33%). The distance learning will be heldfrom Monday to Thursday and classeswill be held on Friday and Saturday.
