PROFILE OF ICM EXPERTISE GROUP
Intelligence, Computing, and Multimedia (ICM) expertise group is one of the Expertise Group Areas (EGA) at the IT Telkom Faculty of Informatics.
As one of the EGA, Intelligence, Computing, and Multimedia (ICM) studies about the sciences which are closely related to computer science. This science covers the basics of information and computing theory, and its implementation on a computer system. In computer science, algorithms are also studied, which is a process that describes and transforms: theory, analysis, design, efficiency, implementation and applications.
Computer Science Accreditation Board (CSAB), which is representative of the Association Computing Machinery (ACM), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Computer Society (IEEE) and Association for Information Systems (AIS), identified four areas became the focus of computer science.
CSAB also identifies areas such as software engineering, artificial intelligence, and computer graphics as important areas in computer science.

Laboratories
Some laboratories were established to support research and teaching activities in expertise group of Intelligence, Computing, and Multimedia. Laboratories include Open Source Programming, Artificial Intelligence, Multimedia, and Formal Methods laboratories. Each lab has different research topics which are supported by several study groups. Study groups are research groups that have specialize in particular topics related to specific laboratory material.

Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, among others, study group of Expert System, Neural Network, Genetic Algorithm, Fuzzy Logic, Searching and Planning, Evolutionary, Algorithm and Soft Computing. Here is the explanation of the study group.
- Expert System is a computer program that contains knowledge of one or more human experts on a specific field. The system utilizes the capability of reasoning to get a conclusion.
- Artificial Neural Networks) is a network of a group of small processing units which is modeled based on human neural network. Artificial neural network is a adaptive system which can change its structure to solve problems based on external, internal information and patterns in data.
- Genetic Algorithm is one class of evolutionary algorithms. Genetic algorithms are search techniques in computer science to find a solution approach to optimization and search problems.
- Fuzzy Logic is an inference system that uses the concept of fuzzy set, fuzzy set concept is a problem which is not represented in the 0 and 1, but in the range [0, 1]. The system also adopts a human instinct to solve problems.
- Searching and Planning is a method of problem solving in general. When there is a formulated search problem, the set of conditions, the set of operators, an initial condition, and objective criteria, and then the problem can be solved by a search technique.
- Evolutionary Algorithm is one of optimization techniques inspired from real-world system evolution, namely reproduction, mutation, recombination, and selection of parents.
- Soft Computing methods of solving problems that can process data that is uncertainty, imprecision, and can be implemented with little cost. Several methods are included in the category of soft computing are fuzzy logic, artificial neural networks, probabilistic reasoning, etc.
Multimedia Laboratory, among others, study group photography, vector, 3D modeling, Animation, and video making. Here is the explanation of the study group.
- Photography: discuss the techniques or procedures in taking pictures through a digital camera, make the process of editing and retouching images that suit your needs.
- Vector: discuss the various types of graphics processing software that is still within the limits of two-dimensional domain.
- 3D modeling: discuss or learn tools-tools that are used in two-dimensional building game characters, game environments, and others.
- Animation: talk about making animations.
- Making videos: learn the techniques of making and editing videos so it can be implemented.
Open Source Programming Laboratory, among others, study group Java Standard Edition, Java Enterprise Edition, and Java Mobile Edition. Here is the explanation of the study group.
- Java Standard Edition (J2SE): study the development of object-oriented based applications desktop and client / server.
- Java Enterprise Edition (J2EE): studied the development of object-oriented based applications based on web and client / server, for example e-business applications, e-commerce, and web-based application.
- Java Mobile Edition (J2ME): studied the development of object-oriented based applications that can be implemented on all platforms, such as pagers, smart cards, cell phones, handheld PDAs, and set-top box.
- Formal Methods Laboratory: among others, study group of formal methods, such as technical specifications, development, and verification of software and hardware systems based on mathematical concepts.
Research Roadmap
Intelligence: Positioning itself on the basis of research analysis and algorithm development. Scope of Research for the year 2011 focused on solving problems on the internal environment of Institutions, such as: Development of plagiarism detection engineering and Scheduling Mechanisms.
Computing: As a new “born” field and Computing focuses on:
1. Mobile Computation: Optimization of Resource
2. Intelligent Computation: Optimization of algorithms
3. Special computational studies: Cryptography, steganography, watermarking
4. Modeling: Formal Method
Multimedia: Multimedia activities that have been running all this time are related with "production" and the use of technology. For 2011 it will begin to be directed to produce Multimedia Technology Training Module.
For research:
1. Digital Signal Processing (Image, Sound, Video).
2. Game development.
3. Storage-Based Multimedia (Polarization Filter and Image Storage).
