Starting from mere hobbies, games have been developed rapidly. Now, games have become one of the mainstays in entertainment. As a way to reduce negative impacts of games toward children and teenagers, Fatahillah Team created a thrilling game called “Great Scientist”, a combination of game, mathematics, and physics.
Fatahillah Team consists of Arief Yunanto (informatics student from the class of 2008), Bayu Munajat (informatics student from the class of 2006), and Zudha Aulia (informatics student from the class of 2008). They realize that game can greatly influence the development of characters, bevious, and psychological aspects of gamers.
“Great Scientist is an educational game. It is aimed for kids and teenagers, age of 12 to 20 years old,” Bayu said.
Great Scientist can be implemented at schools. Teachers can use this game to help students solve mathematics and physics equations for quizzes and tests. Through this game, students will enjoy role playing games and at the same time solving equations.
“Great Scientist has been presented to students of SMP 2 and SMP 5 in Bandung. The students responded well.” Bayu added
Great Scientist is designed using Software Blender 2.49 version, Unity 3D 2.6.1. version, Photoshop, Video Editing, and Adobe Premiere. Great Scientist has successfully achieved the gold medal in the 2010 geMasTik (National Competition for Informatics Technology and Communication) in Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) Surabaya, on September 8, 2010.
